Democracy gives the people a voice and only a tyrant would deny them that. To the chagrin of the simple minded who trudge through life responding only to the signals of immediacy, that is where its utility ends. To think that the people, en masse, could make complex decisions that affect civilization as a whole is utterly ludicrous.
The average person can barely articulate the origin of his own beliefs, let alone decide what’s good for all. “No one can decide that!” says the anarchist, who’s already contradicted himself by making that decision for the rest of us. Both materialists and spiritualists are included in this estimation. If you’re average, you’re going to make average decisions and almost certainly “elect” average leaders.
Average leaders with too much power. Now there’s a modern tale. No one elected the stinking rich scrooges who control the puppets that people think represent them. That’s the “greatly awakened” line the grifters are selling anyway. In reality, by not opposing the structures of the ultra capitalist, wealth worshipping civilization these oligarchs built, the clueless walking dead elected them indirectly.
Whether their puppets are left or right wing also makes no difference. The Orange Bozos are being played for fools because they have an easily digestible narrative of partial truths to memorize and repeat to other clueless fools.
The semantics of these fools cannot be trusted. To the point, it exposes them. “Elite” as an insult is the hallmark of ressentiment. Do these mediocre rabble rousers really believe in equality? Probably not, except in the case of their betters.
Make no mistake, the world is full of corrupt leaders, both visible and hidden, and they should be held to account. That doesn’t mean every buffoon ready to form a lynch mob knows what they’re talking about. They’re emotional, resentful and hateful without direction. The mediocrity in their souls makes them feign humility by seeking equality as a way to compensate for their ineptitude. In short: in the face of inequality they become miserable and wretched. They’re much better off seeking ignorant bliss.
It must be said that there is no inherent shame in being average. The resentful mediocre are those who cannot peacefully accept their limitations. Instead of improving themselves, they call for equality in an attempt to bring their betters down to their level. This eventually becomes a mascarade when even in their limited, minuscule understanding of the world they realize “equality” is just another word that can be used to signal non-existent virtue. Doesn’t that sound familiar? Mediocre leaders who speak endlessly about democracy and equality, dishing out nothing but the opposite to the mediocre people who chose them. The dance of mediocrity.
