9. Christian Rock Hard (Season 7, Episode 09)
Inspiration. That’s the key you guys. With the basic premise of Eric making a bet with Kyle leading to the top pop groups staging a strike on his front lawn, Christian Rock Hard makes mince meat out of “hardcore” rock groups that appear edgy but are just another flavor of the same old thing.
South Park the musical, a.k.a. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, wasn’t bad at all, but was so divergent from what people were used to in the series. Yet, South Park and song go hand in hand and this episode is probably the best example, showcasing Cartman’s vocal talents in particular. The subplot points out the absurdity of the music industry’s “fight against piracy.”
